Discover Logos Homeschool Academy School

classes

Another unique aspect about Logos Homeschool Academy is the fact that our classes will be grouped in three phases. This model is called the "trivium" - which describes the learning stages of children as they mature and focuses the educational method in each stage to best develop a knowledgeable, thoughtful, and articulate student.

Stages of the Trivium

Phase 1, Grammar (K-5th) - Students learn the basics and facts, through songs, chants, and memorization, for a factual foundation. Memorization is key during this stage.

Phase 2, Logic (6th-8th) - During the logic years, students start to think independently and often develop a tendency for argument. The classical education approach is to help teach the student to analyze critically and to argue well by taking facts and arranging them into an organized statement. Students use the knowledge gained in the grammar stage and apply logic and reasoning to argue well.

Phase 3, Rhetoric (9th-12th) - Rhetoric is the art of being able to communicate well. Students become leaders in their learning by combining their facts knowledge and ability to arrange facts into an argument, to communicate with others. Students begin to think and speak well and deepen their understanding of their identity in Christ.
